Use and Abuse of Alcohol in Design and Tech
It seems alcohol use comes with the job. However, this doesn’t align with the goal of increasing diversity and inclusiveness in our fields.
Come join UXPA DC, Brink and Victor Yocco (recent author of Design for Mind) on Tuesday, September 20 from 6pm-8:30pm for a presentation to increase awareness of the role alcohol plays in our fields, and discuss how we can best create experiences that might contain alcohol while respecting the presence of those choosing to abstain. Victor will share experiences as a UX researcher who has gone from actively abusing alcohol to having two years of sobriety, provide insight into effective workplace and industry solutions, what work still needs done, and how we might create experiences that are more inclusive, concluding with a solutions-focused discussion where differences of opinions will be respected.
6:00pm - 7:00pm: Registration, networking and appetizers
7:00pm - 8:00pm Presentation and Q&A
8:00pm - 8:30pm Additional Q&A and networking
